Brief Synopsis: Funded by a reality TV show, a group of scientists head to the Mariana Trench to prove that mermaids are real. Turns out they are real, but not very nice.
Thoughts: Anne Bogel over at Modern Mrs. Darcy kept raving about this book so, since she is my book guru, I decided to give it a try. I'm now thinking she loved it because she never reads any horror fiction so she had nothing to compare it to...? Personally I found this story to be just painful. The amount of over-information and repetitive descriptions made me push this to 1.5 speed just to hurry the annoying dialogue along. Then, after all that painfully tedious build-up, the book comes to an abrupt conclusion. I guess there is a sequel out there to explain the ending but at this point I really don't care.
