Brief Synopsis: Nina tried to get away from her grifter upbringing, until she realized her fancy art degree won't pay the bills. Vanessa is a privileged trust fund baby who spends her days as a Instagram influencer and won't admit how terrible lonely she truly is. What starts as a perfect con leads leads to revelations about family secrets and murder. Told through the alternating perspectives of Nina and Vanessa, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Tahoe.
Thoughts: If you know anything about me, you know I'm not a fan of psychological thrillers, or those type of stories were people are being tricked into, say, losing all their money or being set-up for murder, and usually in these stories the bad guys get away with the con. So I was a bit apprehensive about this story--everything on the surface led me to believe it would be that kind of tale. I'm happy to report that is not the case--not at all! I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really didn't know what was going to happen next, and everything I'm assumed would happen did not! This was a fantastic thriller and the Audible version was superb.
