Brief Synopsis: When the family matriarch, Helen, dies, her daughter and 3 grandchildren find themselves under the same roof for the first time in years. Just when all the unresolved bitterness and tensions start to boil over, the family discovers that Helen has been in the possession of what could be one of the most famous missing gemstones from history. As the family researches Helen's past, they also start to work on healing their own histories and relationships.
Thoughts: This story is part historical detective mystery, part family drama. It's very well written and easy to read, although I did wish there was a little bit more to the history/detective part. I also was not a big fan of the ending but it didn't ruin the overall feel of the book for me. I read this one for one of my book clubs and it would be the perfect pick for such a group.
