The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

3.5 Stars Source: Amazon

Brief Synopsis: Mariana Andros is a group therapist who is still in the midst of dealing with her own personal trauma. When her niece's roommate is murdered, Mariana races to Cambridge University to help solve the crime, as per your standard mystery book plot. While investigating at Cambridge, Mariana meets the charismatic professor Edward Fosca--he's your typical good looking yet completely inappropriate teacher who has a whole cult of ladies just waiting for his next command. This little coven calls themselves The Maidens, and Mariana is sure all of it is tied to the murder. Will she figure out the truth in time?

Thoughts: I won't complain too much because this truly falls into my category of "summer read": fast-paced thriller, read it in a day by the pool. There was nothing too shocking or surprising but oh well, I'll survive. As I was one of only a few people on earth to NOT like The Silent Patient, I will say I enjoyed this one much better.
