Brief Synopsis: A recluse is found murdered in his NYC apartment. In his room is a stolen painting and a suitcase, both belonging to the family of Windsor Horne Lockwood III (Win). Given his family's vast fortune, as well as his own unique brand of delivering justice, Win begins to investigate this strange case. Soon he will discover that uncovering the truth will lead to uncovering a plethora of family secrets that might be best forgotten.
Thoughts: Ok, first off, I'm well aware that this character is ridiculous...but I love him. He's insanely rich, full of privilege, and brutally honest, yet he's not a dick; in fact, his quirks and vigilante tactics make him quite the delightful character. If you're done with stories about wealthy white men who take matters into their own hands, I totally get it. But for me, there is something very satisfying about stories where, against all odds, the good guys saves the day and the bad guys always get what they deserve. It's simple, yes, but sometimes simple is all my little heart can take.
I haven't read any of the Myron Bolitar books by Coben, of which Win plays a secondary character throughout, but now that I know where Win is going to end up, I cannot wait to dive in and learn his history. Like all Coben books, this is a great mystery, lots of twists and is just plain fun to read. I highly suggest the Audible version as Steven Weber once agains narrates--he's done quite a few Coben books and he's fantastic!
